Thomas Franken is an innovative and imaginative artist and designer. His portfolio encompasses a variety of media including paintings (oil and acrylic), silk screen prints, collages, graphic arts, greeting cards, and designs in wood.

The paintings on canvas and wood are the focal point of his art. The subject matter is primarily landscapes rendered in an abstract iimpressionistic style. The inspirations for his paintings come from his travels and from his imagination. His world is colorful and bright. "I hope people will feel an affinity with my art and make their own personal connections and experiences with it."

"The quality and richness of color in the silk screening printing process is fascinating to me and was what first drew me to this medium." The silk screen designs began by the creation of a line of original silk screened note cards which he sold to fine retail stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus and Scribner's. He created exclusive card designs for UNICEF, The Metropolitan Opera, and Georg Jensen. Later his silk screening work expanded to include larger size compositions.

Designing in wood is another artistic medium that greatly appeals to him. He has created imaginative, decorative and functional one-of-a kind pieces including wood wall hangings which he calls "Woodscapes". He also creates whimsical, sophisticated, one-of-a-kind compositions, as well as, lamps, wine racks and furniture.

His art has been acquired by collectors and has been exhibited in galleries in the US and most recently in Germany. A native New Yorker, he now lives and works in South Kent, Connecticut.
